Alice in Wonderland

The Worcester County Library Foundation presents The New Adventures of Alice in Wonderland, an Other Voices production. History of the U.S. Constitution

This course is six two-hour sessions presented by Howard Sribnick. The United States Constitution created, for the first time in history, a form of government in which the power to govern was vested in the ‘who’ were to be governed: a government by the people and for the people. This course will present a review of the history of the U.S. Constitution and the Supreme Court cases that have interpreted its provisions. The course is intended to allow participants to better understand how our founding fathers intended our government to work, how it works (or fails to work) today, and how it may work in the future. A BIG READ EVENT: The poetry of Emily Dickinson. Final Harvest by Thomas H. Johnson: Many early editions of Emily Dickinson’s poetry were re-punctuated by the editor. To re-punctuate Dickinson is often to re-interpret her poems. In 1955, Thomas H. Johnson edited from all known manuscripts The Poems of Emily Dickinson, Including Variant Readings. This edition, known as the Johnson text, attempted to report the manuscripts with complete accuracy. He later published Final Harvest a compilation of 575 of Emily’s best works of poetry. Discussion facilitated by Kelley Rouse or Nancy Mitchell of Salisbury University. Copies of books are available in advance at the Ocean Pines Library.

Parkinson’s Support Group - Caregivers Seminar

Caregivers Seminar: The Parkinson’s Support Group, in cooperation with John Hopkins School of Medicine Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorder Center, is offering a special opportunity for those who care for someone with Parkinson’s Disease, or other movement disorders, to learn from expert presenters and to share with other caregivers. The focus of the seminar is to support and improve the physical, mental and emotional health of the caregiver. Lunch is included. Pre-registration is required.
