Submit a piece of art on a Post-It Note! Create your work at home or visit the Ocean City branch where supplies will be available. Creations will be displayed in the library. Prizes will be awarded in April for age groups: 5th & 6th grades, 7th & 8th grades, and 9th - 12th grades. Adult submission forms are also available at the Ocean City Branch.

Wayne T. Gilchrest is the Director of the Sassafras Environmental Education Center, an education division of the Eastern Shore Land Conservancy. He served in the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Maryland’s First Congressional District from 1991 to 2008. Mr. Gilchrest will discuss the frequent tension between agriculture and environmental concerns and suggest some possibilities for finding common ground. (Postponed until March 19, 2015)

Local author Bill Peak will read from his book, "The Oblate's Confession." While entirely a work of fiction, the novel’s background is historically accurate: all the kings and queens named really lived, all the political divisions and rivalries described actually existed, and each of the plagues that visit the author’s imagined monastery did in fact ravage that long-ago world. In the midst of a tale that touches the human in all of us, readers of “The Oblate’s Confession” will find themselves treated to a history of the “Dark Ages” unlike anything available today outside of textbooks and original source material. The Mesabi Pioneers

Join guest author Jeff Smith as he talks about the Mesabi Project and the book, "The Mesabi Pioneers". In the early 1890's brothers discovered iron ore in the dense pine woods of northern Minnesota. Mesabi pioneers tells the story of the immigrants who dug the ore out of the ground, carved towns from trees and built new lives for themselves and their families.

"Rockets to the Rescue" with the Worcester County Extension Service. Let your imagination take flight! Working with a University of Maryland Extension 4-H educator and as an important part of the team, you will explore how to build and test a rocket design, make improvements based on observations and share ideas while solving a real-world challenge. Help build a bottle launcher and stomp away. The situation is urgent . You and your team do not have much time so come and take the challenge! For children ages 5 and up.
