Post It Art Contest
January - March 2015
Location: Ocean City Branch
Submit a piece of art on a Post-It Note! Create your work at home or visit the Ocean City branch where supplies will be available. Creations will be displayed in the library. Prizes will be awarded in April for age groups: 5th & 6th grades, 7th & 8th grades, and 9th - 12th grades. Adult submission forms are also available at the Ocean City Branch.

Writing for Wellness
Monday, January 26 - 1:30- 3:00 pm

2nd & 4th Mondays each month. Research has shown that writing about stressful experiences, like illness, may boost health & psychological well-being. Group uses exercises to stimulate the process for creative expression. No prior writing experience needed.

Altered Clothing

What do you do with your favorite shirt that has a grease stain on it? How about those jeans with a huge hole? Do you have a piece of clothing that you love the fabric, but it looks terrible on? Learn to repurpose these items to make one-of-a-kind artistic clothing. Several techniques will be demonstrated as well as completed projects.

Join Judge Dale Cathell as he talks about his newest book, "Wading Through The Swamp: The Memoirs of a Bad Boy". The book chronicles the history of the 1940’s to present day and highlights the changes in culture over the years. The author takes you through periods of his life when he was a young “bad boy” to becoming a lawyer and then Judge of the highest Court in Maryland, Maryland’s Supreme Court. Hear about interesting cases and a lifetime of stories. Books will be available for purchase and autographs.

Tribal Bellydance with Roma

This 3-week mini series introduces you to the foundations of tribal style bellydance. Each class includes a breakdown of the moves, drilling exercises to work and isolate core muscles, and a fast-paced follow along to integrate movements into muscle memory. Covers 8 basic moves along with several variations. Practice worksheet included. Wear comfortable form-fitting clothes and bring a bottle of water. Limited hip scarves available for sale or to borrow.

In the early 1890s, a group of brothers discovered iron ore in the dense pine woods of northern Minnesota. Mesabi Pioneers tells the story of the immigrants who dug that ore out of the ground, who carved towns from trees, and who built new lives for themselves and their families.

Wayne T. Gilchrest is the Director of the Sassafras Environmental Education Center, an education division of the Eastern Shore Land Conservancy. He served in the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Maryland’s First Congressional District from 1991 to 2008. Mr. Gilchrest will discuss the frequent tension between agriculture and environmental concerns and suggest some possibilities for finding common ground.
