New Berlin Branch Groundbreaking
Tuesday, June 6, 2017 - 1:30 pm
Location: 13 Harrison Avenue, Berlin

The Worcester County Commissioners cordially invite the public and members of the press to join them and the Library Board of Trustees to the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Berlin Branch Library.

The 12,000-square-foot Berlin Branch Library will be a two-story structure, designed to complement the historic architecture of the Town of Berlin. The library will have expanded children and teen reading areas, community meeting space, art gallery, and a local history room. Additional space will be provided for both public computers and laptops. A children's porch and second-floor deck will allow visitors to take advantage of the natural setting. The site will also allow for the expansion of the community garden.

Project funding is being provided by the Worcester County Commissioners, Worcester County Library Foundation, Humphreys Foundation, Town of Berlin, and the County Library Capital Grant Program, Maryland State Department of Education, and Division of Library Development and Services. Project construction will get underway in June 2017 and should be complete by July 2018.

Individuals with disabilities who may need special accommodations are invited to contact Public Information Officer Kim Moses at 410-632-1194. For more information about the Berlin Branch Library project, contact Library Director Jennifer Ranck at 410-632-2600.

Opera 101
Friday, June 30th - 2 pm
Location: Ocean City Branch
Opera is one of the longest-enduring musical forms, spanning over four centuries and across multiple continents. But you don’t need a deep knowledge of music, familiarity with Italian, or fancy opera-going garb to enjoy it. This class will dispel the mystery and stuffiness that sometimes surrounds this genre and make opera accessible to anyone. If you’ve always been intrigued by opera, but felt intimidated by the genre, this program is for you. Presented by Kristy Barbacane, Ph.D.
