Worcester County Library Foundation

The people of Worcester County are increasingly turning to a valuable community resource they share in common - their public library. The Worcester County Library Foundation, Inc. is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) organization which exists to support and enhance library service in this County.

Worcester County Library Foundation

The Worcester County Library Foundation can help the library to maintain and accelerate the momentum that has been building in recent years. The Foundation assists the library in presenting a wide range of interesting and educational events – from book and poetry discussions, to spirited exchanges about foreign policy, to cooking classes, to demonstrations of local arts and crafts. With your support, the Foundation helps the library to acquire extra copies of new, popular, and important books and helps the library to present fun and stimulating programs and activities for all ages.

Current Board Members: Howard Sribnick (President), Ron Cascio, Charlotte Cathell, Kay Hickman, Donna Main, Gary Weber and Betsy Williams; Lisa Outten Harrison and Jennifer Ranck serve as staff to the Board.

Current Major Initiative: New Berlin Branch Library

The proposed new Berlin Branch Library will replace the current library that was built in 1970. The new facility will be approximately 11,000 SF, about three times the size of the current branch, and the design will complement the historic architecture of the Town of Berlin. Cozy areas for reading and studying, adaptable spaces to accommodate new technology, as well as a community room are being incorporated into the design. Students, working professionals, retirees, teens, families with children, and others will be able to take advantage of library services and programs, all while enjoying the quiet setting. The town of Berlin is well known for its art scene and music festivals. The new branch seeks to build on Berlin’s sense of community and celebrate the Berlin’s history and culture. The facility will include gallery space, a local history room, and a community gathering space for meetings, performances, and special events.
