Expanded Hours Begin May 3

(Updated May 20, 2021)

All five library branches are expanding service hours beginning Monday, May 3. (We will close 15 minutes earlier to give staff time for cleaning.)

Due to orders by Governor Hogan, masks are no longer required to enter the library.  Use of masks and social distancing are highly encouraged to protect any vulnerable and at-risk visitors to our library. Thank you for your consideration!

Computers will be available first come, first serve, for 45-minute sessions. We are asking our patrons to keep their visits as brief as possible. (Please know we can’t wait to see you, but are trying to accommodate as many visitors as possible!) Library staff will assist at the copy machines. Children’s activities will not be available. Meeting rooms are currently available at the Berlin and Ocean Pines branches at 25% capacity. Quarantine of materials stopped on Wednesday, May 19 after receiving notification from the MD State Health Department it was safe to do so. Virtual programs continue, please check our online calendar: https://worcesterlibrary.libcal.com/ for details. Contactless pick up of library materials (library-to-go) will also continue Monday-Saturdays at all branch locations; as well as our remote printing service (https://worcesterlibrary.org/events/printing-go).

The library cannot guarantee the cleanliness of materials or equipment as public libraries are high touch facilities. The risk of entering a public facility is your own. We will clean high touch surfaces every hour as recommended by the CDC, however the availability of cleaning supplies is limited.

Depending on the number of cases in Worcester County, we may be forced to return to previous restrictions, and we apologize in advance should this become necessary.

To maintain a safe environment for patrons and staff:

  • Use of masks and social distancing are highly encouraged to protect any vulnerable and at-risk visitors to our library.
  • The Library will have limited capacity with only a certain number of people allowed in the building at a time
  • Hand sanitizer is available for staff and patrons to use as they enter and leave the building
  • If you have a fever or are not feeling well, please do not come to the library

At this time, the following services are not yet available:

  • Newspapers
  • One-on-one computer help
  • Fax services
  • Children's area toys and games
