Preventing Diabetes in Worcester County

The Worcester County Health Department was awarded a grant from CareFirst Blue Cross Blue Shield to launch a robust diabetes prevention program for our community.  The Health Department is bringing organizations from around the County to offer programs relating to nutrition and wellness, cooking demonstrations, and walking groups.  Programs will be offered at the branch libraries and other partner locations.

Just Walk Worcester - Just Walk Worcester is a program offered by the Worcester County (MD) Health Department to encourage residents and visitors to explore the tremendous opportunities to walk, stroll and hike across the county. It is one of a number of Prevention Programs that promote healthy practices to support a happy and healthy lifestyle.

Lifestyle Balance Diabetes Prevention Classes - April 14, 2022 - April 20, 2023 (pre-registration required)

The Program is designed to help YOU: Prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes and other chronic diseases; eat healthier, move more, and lose weight; reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke - and so much more at no cost to you! Back to School Herbal Wellness
This class is about supporting our families as we return to school. We will cover herbs commonly used for cold and flu as well as herbs to help settle nerves. Attendees get a do-it-yourself Elderberry Syrup kit and instructions. Register online or by calling branch.

Learn about common herbs and ‘weeds’ that can help soothe and heal everyday wounds, bruises, and scrapes. We will discuss the history of First aid herbs such as Yarrow and Calendula. Attendees receive a topical healing salve.

Friends of the Ocean Pines Library: Membership Meeting & Farm-To-Library Event
