Stories from the COVID-19 Pandemic

The Ocean City Branch Library has partnered with the Global Z Recording Project and 14 other libraries across the state of Maryland to collect stories related to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Storytelling is known to be an incredibly powerful and valuable historical tool and we are looking for Worcester County residents to share their voices and experiences living through the pandemic. Stories will become part of the Enoch Pratt Free Library’s Digital Maryland and Maryland State Archives collections where they will be available to benefit all of mankind.

Super Powered STEM: Book Scavenger Hunt - Monday, Nov. 15

How fast can you crack the code? And, how fast can you finish the list? Come and join us for an exciting scavenger hunt at the Ocean Pines Library on Monday, November 15 from 4:30 - 5:30 pm. We look forward to seeing you and your family!  For children ages 8 + up.

Expungement Clinic - November 16 from 4 - 6 pm

The Worcester County Library is offering a free expungement clinic in partnership with Maryland Volunteer Lawyer Services on November 16 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at our Ocean City Library (10003 Coastal Highway).

Worcester County History Week - October 10 - 16

Worcester County Library is proud to be part of Worcester County History Week, slated for October 10 - 16.  The Ocean City Life Saving Stating Musuem has posted the complete line-up of special events here:  The library is offereing two sessions on the "History of Libraries in Worcester County" presented by Alec Staley on October 13 from 5 - 6 pm at the Snow Hill branch and on October 14 from 2 - 3 pm at the Ocean Pines Branch.

Ruth Dryden Research Notes - New Digital Collection

Worcester County Library has committed to digitizing and making accessible Genealogy Collections and Special Collections related to Worcester County, Maryland. The newest collection to be digitized is the Ruth Dryden Research Notes collection. This is a collection of 9,910 research notes on wills/probates in Worcester County, Maryland based on over 1,000 families from the 1700s - mid 1800s. Also included are other genealogy related notes such as marriage dates, birth dates, etc.

The Library Has Returned To Normal Hours

All five library branches have returned to normal service hours.

Due to orders by Governor Hogan, masks are no longer required to enter the library.  Use of masks and social distancing are highly encouraged to protect any vulnerable and at-risk visitors to our library. Thank you for your consideration!

Quarantine of Library Materials Ends May 19

After receiving notification from the MD State Health Department, quarantine of library materials will end as of May 19.
