Library Book Returns are Open; Buildings Remain Closed

All five Worcester County Library buildings remain closed, but plans are now in place for a gradual restarting of public services.  Beginning Monday, May 18 at 11 am, all branches will open up library book returns.  Items will be quarantined for at least 72 hours to remove any contamination following recommendations from the State Library Resource Center.  Library staff will be available to answer phones Monday - Friday from 9:30 am - 4:30 pm.  Questions can also be sent to askus@worcesterlibrary.org or to our social media site

One Fish, Two Fish, We Fish, Free Fish

The Ocean City Branch of the Worcester County Library, in partnership with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, is offering a Free Fishing Rod Loaner Program. Adults can check out a rod a tackle to use in bay and river waters. The library hopes to encourage individuals and families to explore the sport of fishing. An adult library card is required to check-out these rods. For more information and for program regulations, please visit the branch or call 410-524-1818.

Overdue Notice Error

The library was extending due dates last night for all patrons but (we think) because of the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, it caused a glitch and overdue notices were sent out by mistake. We are so sorry this happened over the long weekend when you cannot contact us directly. Library staff will be in the branches on Tuesday if you have any questions. Our book returns are open and we hope to announce our library-to-go service plans next week. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Have a safe holiday weekend.

#eBooksForAll

Beginning November 1, 2019, Macmillan Publishers will allow libraries to purchase only one copy of each new eBook title for the first eight weeks after a book’s release.  This limits access to new titles for readers like you.  Macmillan is the only publisher to propose such an embargo.  The American Library Association, the Public Library Association, the Urban Libraries Council, and libraries across the country are contacting Macmillan to express our concerns.  We need your voice as well.  We urge you to contact Macmillan to express your concerns about this recent purchasing policy decisio
